Journaling & review
4 min read · Educational content, not financial advice
A trading journal records not just entry/exit and result, but the reasoning behind the trade — why you entered, what your plan was for the stop and target, and how you felt executing it. Over time this record reveals patterns a single trade never could.
Reviewing a journal regularly — weekly or monthly — surfaces recurring mistakes (moving stops, sizing inconsistently, deviating from plan under stress) that are otherwise easy to repeat without noticing. It also confirms what's actually working, which is just as valuable.
This habit is unglamorous but consistently cited by experienced traders as one of the highest-leverage things a developing trader can do.
